An extension of this exercise is to work with a symbol of the value.
- Center yourself and adopt an attitude of receptivity.
- Think about the value, and as you imagine your mind opening up like a flower bud, allow a symbol to emerge which represents this value.
- Draw it and share your symbol with others.
- Again place the symbol in a location where you can see it.
Keep a journal reflecting how you can and did manifest this value in yourself and/or in your organization. Also note in your journal difficulties you may have contacting the value. Sometimes when you start with an evocative word or symbol, you are reminded of how little of that value is present, or how hard it has been to contact it. You may have the word JOY visible and feel the frustration or unhappiness more acutely because of it. You may have the word, PROSPERITY, and thus be reminded of the lack of financial success or progress in yourself or the organization.
Note: this exercise was originally recieved through contact with John Cullen.
